Lake City Secondary

Thank you to presenters Allison, Lara, and Tatyana from Children of the Street for delivering workshops on child and youth exploitation. These workshops were delivered in schools and also streamed for SD27's rural and remote students. Students from grades 6-12 got to partake in workshops that discussed online sexual exploitation and sextortion, warning signs of online luring and grooming, the impacts of intimate image sharing, digital citizenship and permanency, online safety tips, as well as safe adults and ways to reach out for help. Resources were shared with students and staff. Workshops were also offered to staff, parents & caregivers and service providers in collaboration with Denisiqi and the Child Development Centre. A big shout out to schools that hosted the presentations: 100 Mile Elementary (hosted grades 6 & 7 from Forest Grove, Lac La Hache, Mile 108, and Horse Lake), Peter Skene Ogden (hosted grades 8-12, staff, parents & caregivers), Columneetza (hosted grades 7-9 and grade 6s from Marie Sharpe, Nesika, and Cataline), and Lake City Secondary (hosted grades 10-12, parents and caregivers)!
